Water Flow Rate Required for Salmonids

The flow rates below in cubic metres per hour per tonne of fish are approximates based on the following assumptions.

Temperature Degrees Centigrade
Weight 5	7	10	12	14	16	20
(grams)
3 4.7	23.0	40.1	57.6	75.5	99.5	177.7
7 13.1	20.5	35.7	51.3	67.2	88.6	158.1
15 11.8	18.4	32.1	46.2	60.5	79.7	142.3
31 10.6	16.7	29.1	41.8	54.7	72.1	128.7
63 9.6	15.1	26.3	37.9	49.6	64.4	116.7
127 8.7	13.7	23.9	34.4	45.1	59.7	105.9
255 7.6	12.5	21.7	31.2	40.9	53.9	96.3

The above data should only be used to calculate the approximate amount of water flowrate required to meet acceptable water quality standards with respect to oxygen. The figures do not take into account the linear velocity of the water or self cleaning properties of specific tank designs.
