About Dryden Aqua
Dryden Aqua is a Scottish based Marine Biological company
formed in 1980 specializing in water quality and innovative water
treatment technology. We have a strong research and
development background and conduct research for the water
industries (Eco-India FP7 project), European Commission and UK
Government
As marine biologists our focus has been with the
aquaculture and environmental business sectors.
An understanding of the biological as well as the physio-chemical
reactions has permitted Dryden Aqua to develop a unique range
of products and technology relating to; media bed filtration,
coagulation, nano-technology and sono-chemistry. A new hypothesis
has also been developed that relates
Marine Biodiversity to climate change which has the potential to
reverse the condition.
The web site is in 9 sections
1.
AFM Active filter media
Active filter media
was developed by Dryden Aqua to replace sand in all types of sand
filter, from Drinking water to waste water treatment. AFM will
improve the performance of most sand filters by around 50% and
provide up to 30% operational cost savings in terms of water, energy
and chemical consumption.
2.
Aeration & Oxygenation systems
Dryden Aqua manufacture a unique range of fine bubble
air diffusers and
ceramic oxygen diffusers. Our air diffusers are used in large
scale aeration of
lakes and reservoirs to fish farms and agricultural farms as
part of a biological grey water SBR recycling systems. Our diffuser
are the leading product used for
landfill leachate treatment in the UK.
3.
Aquaculture & public aquaria
Dryden Aqua are
marine biologists specializing on water treatment and recirculation
technology for intensive closed system aquaculture and some of the
larges public marine aquaria in the world.
4.
Chemical products
As marine biologists we try to avoid chemicals, however many of the
products being provided to our industry are not optimized for the
application or have too high a concentration of chemical
by-products. Dryden Aqua were therefore required to develop
and manufacture a new range of high purity products such as
APF active polyfloc,
ACO
active chemical oxidation and
DryOx.
5.
Products & equipment
Dryden Aqua manufacture many products that can be used in a wide
range of industries, such as our
vacuum degassing column.
DIN standard pressure filtration systems,
ZPM static mixers. In addition to the products
manufactured by Dryden Aqua we have on display products manufactured
by our associate companies.
6.
Instrumentation for water quality monitoring
Water
quality is central to all systems, we do not think it is good enough
to be acceptable, we want our clients to have the best possible
water quality at a fair price. Oxygen monitoring is one of the most
important parameters and Dryden Aqua are the largest manufacturer of
galvanic oxygen probes in the UK. We are also the leading oxygen
probe manufacture for the world aquaculture industry.
7.
Ozone
Ozone ins a
very useful water treatment process for many applications, the web
site contains a range of ozone generators for water and air
treatment as well as venturi injection systems.
8.
Swimming pool industry
Dryden Aqua integrated
water treatment systems and AFM are now installed in over 50,000
pool systems in Europe. We have developed technology that can
recycle 100% of the water and comply with the highest standards of
water and air quality. Our systems provide the best and safest
conditions for the public as well as pool staff or the private user.
Our systems may be a bit more expensive than other systems, however
in all cases examined the Dryden Aqua Integrated system is at least
30% more efficient and can achieve a return in capital out of
revenue in under 18 months.
9.
Water treatment, drinking water,
waste and industrial water
WHO (World Health Organization), report 6% of all disease
in Europe is from drinking water, of these infections 50%
is due to Cryptosporidiosis. More than 90% of all
drinking water in Europe is filtered by sand filter. All sand
filters will suffer from transient worm-hole channeling.
Dynamic bio-instability of sand filters leads to coagulants such
as aluminium being discharged in to the water along with prions,
viri, bacteria, parasites, endotoxins and exotoxins.
Ammonium is also added to water to try and prevent THM`s (mainly
chloroform) forming in the water, however ammonium promotes
autotrophic bacteria growth and forms more DBP`s. A
chemical or engineering solution is attempted to try and
solve a biological problem. There are much more efficient,
safer and cost effective biological solutions. Dryden Aqua
technology has the potential to eliminate the above
problems and reduce the operating cost of treating drinking
water by up to 30%.
Wastewater treatment
website
.....remove list 1 chemicals, 1/10
the cost of the alternatives
The principal source of environmental water pollution is
effluent for sewage works. The Royal Commission Standards were
set in the UK over 100 years ago, however very few treatment
works are actually in compliance with a 100 year old standard.
Dryden Aqua tertiary treatment AFM filtration media can treat
sewage water to a standard approaching the quality of drinking
water at about 1/10th the cost of any alternative technology.
Environmental pollution from sewage works contaminates the
environment and our drinking water sources. Also list 1
chemicals discharged in suspended solids is responsible for
disease and cancer. Indeed we now believe that List 1 chemicals
discharged from sewage works may be responsible, or at least
partially responsible for
Climate change. Dryden Aqua were the first to identify
the link between and we offer a solution.
