Valve Manifolds

  1. The diagrams shown opposite presents the valve manifold arrangement of standard pressure sand filters.
  2. The diagrams show 5 valves, valve E is used for the rinse phase and should always be included.
  3. The diagrams show the valve positions during the Run phase, Back-wash and Rinse Phase.
  4. Note.. it is very important to insure that the manifold in properly supported,  do not hang the manifold and valves from the filter flanges.
  5. The pipe work used should match the flange sizes.
  6. Filters should be sequentially back-washed one at a time. If two or more filters are back-washed at the same time,  the waste discharge pipe size must be increased to accommodate the flow of water, or a buffer tank is used.
  7. Maximum back-wash water pressure is 0.5 bar,  do not exceed this pressure
  8. Waste back-wash water pipe work and manifolds should drop down below the valve manifold.
