Aquaculture
We have been manufacturing air diffusers for 25 years, for fish transportation, cage aeration systems and tank or raceway systems. In freshwater systems, one diffusers 6.2.10 and 10 cubm/hr of air will support 1000 kg of fish below 15 deg C, at higher temperatures you will need two diffusers.  Our diffusers have their own internal ballast so you do not need to anchor them down to the base of a tank. All you do is connect a hose and drop them in to the tank.  The diffusers produce a very fine bubble, and in marine systems the bubble is even smaller, such that for Tiger shrimp lagoons, one diffuser will support 1000 kg of shrimps.

Our air diffusers have stood the test of time, they are also the main type of diffuser used in the UK  for the treatment of leachate water from landfill sites. Leachate water is grossly polluted and very aggressive, yet our diffuser give many years of active service.  The diffuser are also used with pure oxygen, especially in seawater cage systems, when one diffuser will support up to 20 tonnes of fish during a disease treatment.

Lakes, Ponds & Reservoirs
wpe12.jpg (10105 bytes)Diffused aeration is the ideal means of preventing thermal stratification and high surface water temperatures in lakes, and reservoirs.  Aeration and mixing of the water can dramatically improve water quality with only a small amount of energy input. The key is to mix the water column and prevent both thermal and chemical stratification of the water.  This in turn stabilises the ecosystem and prevents excessive blooms of algae and zooplankton.
Landfill Leachate
Dryden Aqua fine bubble air diffusers area ideal for the treatment of activated sludge treatment of landfill leachate in either tanks or lagoons.  Indeed the Dryden Aqua product is the standard diffuser used for this application in the UK.  Our air diffusers have their own internal ballast, so there is no need to anchor the diffusers to the base of the tank. Simply fit an air distribution ring main around the perimeter of the tank or lagoon, connect 1/2" flexible hose onto the air ring main and a diffuser on the end of the hose, then simple drop the diffuser into the tank. Cleaning and maintenance is also very simple, simple pull of the hose the lift the diffuser our of the water, give it a quick wash with a low pressure hose of water or a brush, and then drop back into the tank. One diffuser code 6.2.10 and 10 cubm/hr of air with oxidise 10 kg of COD / BOD per day.

Activated sludge effluent treatment
theteam.jpg (93973 bytes)In all forms of biological water treatment it is not sufficient to simply have high levels of oxygen, the water quality and environmental conditions for the culture of the bacteria and algal species should also be near optimum, or as good as can be practically achieved. All aeration systems will add oxygen to the water but they will also change the quality of the water. Therefore, in order to be able to appreciate the benefits which can be gained from an aeration system, it is useful to discuss how they will influence water quality. For further information check our our leachate aeration systems.

Farm Slurry
Using Dryden Aqua diffusers, one of our 3m long diffusers code 6.2.10 rated at 9 to 10 cubm/hr of air, will provide sufficient oxygen and mixing of a slurry tank, receiving the effluent from 5 to 10 cows, depending upon how the farm is operated. The treatment system will remove 90% of the free ammonium nitrogen, and bio-reduce approx 80% of the organic matter to give a very consistent high quality fertiliser. The treated waste water, may be filtered through a screen to remove docken seed.  or through an AFM filter to remove virtually all of the solids.Farm waste slurry treatment
