Diffuser issues, Why use Dryden Aqua ?
The choice of air diffusers from other manufacturers are either membrane types or solid types. The Dryden Aqua diffuser is a hybrid between these two types of diffusers, it is a semi flexible tubular diffuser with sufficient internal ballast to keep it on the base of the tank, and because it is flexible it is also self cleaning. Solid diffusers are normally heavy, so you can actually drop them down into a tank and they will stay on the base. However if the water has a high salt content or hardness, then they will become blocked by calcium carbonate deposition after a few months. Once the diffusers have become blocked they are very difficult to clean. Membrane type discs and hose diffusers have a flexible surface and a generally very resistant to mechanical fouling. However membrane diffusers have to be built into a frame and then anchored to the base of the tank. This adds to the product cost and makes maintenance extremely difficult to service or replace because you have to drain the tank and turn of the blowers.
The Dryden Aqua fine bubble air diffusers solves the problems. Our diffuser has its own internal weight so it does not need to be anchored to the base of the tank. Our diffusers can therefore be used in tanks, plastic lined lagoons or even earth ponds and lakes without destroying the base of the lagoon. Installation couldn't be simpler, just run a pipe around the perimeter of the tank or lagoon above water level, come off the ring main on to flexible hose, connect the diffuser on the end of the hose and throw it into the tank. The diffusers can be retrieved for cleaning while the air blowers are running and the tank full of water. All you need to do is pull on the air hose to recover the diffuser.
We can provide standard aeration systems sized at 250, 500 and 1000 cubic meters of air per hour. We would be pleased to provide just the air diffusers, air blowers or a complete system. In either event, at Dryden Aqua we are water quality biologists, so we will work with you, and insure that you have the most appropriate technology correctly sized. Dryden Aqua is a technical company, so we can provide you with complete biological support, and because we are the manufacturers we will also provide full technical support.
Lakes & Reservoirs
For lakes and large ponds, the air pipe may be anchored to the base of the lake with concrete bags, 1/2" hose is taken off the pipe and diffuser fitted on the end. The length of flexible hose should be equivalent to the depth of water, with this arrangement it means that you can recover a diffuser without having to lift the air supply main pipe. Our air diffusers move a huge amount of water, for example at a depth of 20 meters, each cubic meter of air will more around 100 cubic meters of water in one hour. At 6 m water depth 1 cub of air will move around 20 to 30 cubic meters of water, so one of our small 1 kw aerators fitted with 4 diffusers ) code 6.2.10) rated at 10 cubm/hr each will move 40 x 20-30 = 800 to 1200 cubic meters of water per hour for an energy expenditure of around 1 kw.
If you have a lake or water supply reservoir with a high algae content then a small aeration system may be all that is required to restore the quality of the water. Our air diffusers have also been used to treat the tertiary waste water effluent stored in large lakes in the Middle East, our diffusers prevent anoxic conditions and give around an 80% BOD & COD reduction. The water is then coagulated with PAC and filtered through AFM to give grade 1 irrigation water. The water could be passed through membranes to provide drinking water quality.
