installation example schematic click here The Dryden Aqua decanter is 100% plastic construction designed for the treatment of industrial wastewater and effluent from activated sludge systems A typical application would be to clarify the wastewater after a sequencing batch reactor SBR used for the treatment of biological waste from food process factories or sewage effluent. The aerated / biologically treated effluent is pumped at a constant flow into the decanter, the solids settle out on the base of the unit and the clarified effluent over-flows to discharge or to the next water treatment stage. The sizing of the system is based on tests conducted on your waste water. The settlement velocity of the solids should be determined, this velocity must be greater than the vertical velocity of the effluent passing through the tank. Typical maximum water flows are presented in the table below. Settlement velocity may be increased by the addition of flocculants such as PAC, ferric chloride or our APF Active Polyfloc In order to insure that the flocculation reactions work properly it is important that the flocculent is mixed properly with the effluent in a mixer such as the Dryden Aqua ZPM unit. In some situations such as surface water discharge, there may be a requirement for very tight discharge consents with regards to solids. If you have good flocculation and sedimentation with our decanter, then solids levels less than 5 mg/l should be quite easy to achieve. However for extra clarification of the water, tertiary treatment with DrydenAqua AFM active filter media is recommend.
