The Magnetic Flow meter is a flange mounted flow monitor for the measurement of a wide range of water types ;
The principal of operation is electromagnetic, the only condition being that the fluid in the pipe is conductive. The pipe through which the liquid flows must be full of water. In the event that the flow stops, or exceeds user set points then a relay will close which can then be used to activate an alarm system. If the water flow is reduced or if the electrodes are not submerged, then another alarm will activate. The unit is a mass flow monitor and will give a display of the liquid flowrate accurate to 0.25% of the flow. The head can be mounted remote from the flanged pipe fitting, or it can sit on top of the pipe as shown in the photograph above. If remote displays or logging are required, the standard unit has a two wire 4 to 20 mamp analogue output. The enclosure is rated at IP67 for out-door use, but it can be upgraded if required to underwater IP68 status. The electrode is contained in the flanged fitting and is manufactured from hestalloy in an EPDM liner. These are probably the best flow monitors suitable for a wide range of applications to give many years of trouble free operation. A full range of flanged pipe sizes are available from DN6 to DN2000 and flowrates from 0.025 cubic metres per hour to 113,000 cubic metres per hour.
