Titanium Plate Heat Exchangers

Heating & Cooling Home | Manual

Titanium Heat Exchangers

The size and configuration of plate heat exchangers is almost infinite,  however by way of example we have included 5  x titanium plate heat exchangers in our on-line web store.  The heat exchangers are based on water flowrates, 5, 10, 15, 20 & 25 cubic metres per hour.  Max pressure drop is 0.5 bar,  water flowrate is the same on each side of the plates.  The cold water temperature is 5 degree Centigrade and the warm water is 10 degrees Centigrade.  The approach temperature given is 0.5 degrees C.  This approach temperature is very close, and it means that the cold water will be heated up to 9.5 deg C and the warm water will be cooled down to 5.5 deg C.

The very close approach temperature means that very little additional energy needs to be added to the system by way of heating or cooling.  However it does mean that the heat exchangers are quite large.  For example, reducing the approach temperature to 1 deg C will reduce the size of the heat exchanger and cost by half.    The dimensions are as follows;

5 cubm/hr 10 cubm/hr 15 cubm/hr 20 cubm/hr 25 cubm/hr
height mm 2121 2121 2121 2121 2121

HEAT EXCHANGERS

Water temperature is an important factor which dictates egg incubation time and growth rates of the fish. Water temperature and temperature control are therefore important parameters in aquaculture. We have stainless steel and titanium plate heat exchangers available. The price and size of our  titanium units is given  in the shopping basket. Just click on the menu bar below

Heating large volumes of water, even by few degrees centigrade by electricity or oil etc. can be very costly. However if heat exchangers are employed and the temperature of the incoming water can be increased or reduced to within 2 to 1.5 degrees centigrade of the out-going water, this can amount to a very significant cost saving.

Heat exchangers are very simple devices however they can suffer from plate fouling on the dirty water warm side of the plates. We would recommended that a screen filter be installed to remove particulate matter such as waste feed and faeces. We also provide system for automatically cleaning the heat exchanger during running mode, and off-line cleaning systems for a more thorough clean of the heat exchanger plates.

Heated water systems is aquaculture

The above photograph shows a heat exchanger in a heated water system where 2500 litres of water per minute is heated through 8 degrees centigrade on a flow through basis. The heat exchanger is used to recover 80% of the energy, thereby reducing the heating costs by 4 times.

Heated water systems are employed where it is required to accelerate the growth rate of the stock, especially during the earlier stages where it can have most benefit. With these systems it is essential that degassing is employed to bring the total gas pressure below 100% in order to prevent chronic gas bubble trauma. Refer to the section on degassing for further information.
