Drum filter for the mechanical filtration of freshwater and seawater. The filter is virtually 100% plastic construction so it is the perfect equipment for marine filtration applications or corrosive industrial waste water In marine aquaculture and closed systems it is essential there is no metal ion pick up from equipment in contact with the water. The Dryden Aqua drum filter is the only drum filter available that can achieve this task and avoid fish toxicity reactions.
Plastic drum filter is manufactured in a range of drum sizes from 500 to 1200 mm in diameter and from 300 to 1800 mm in length. The standard mesh has an absolute rating of 30 microns but will provide nominal filtration down to 10 microns .All filters are manufactured with the highest standard and certified by the CE marked. The special design of the plastic drum filter with an inlet tank and adjustable overflow weir guarantees a gentle separation of the solids reducing the fragmenting of the particles. The design of the cross beams in the drum supports the smooth transport of the retained particles towards the sludge effluent channel and prevents the retention of solids inside the drum. |

Filter screen

The above table provides the overall dimensions of the drum filters, the actual screen dimensions relate to the product code. By way of example, the KTS 5-3 has a drum measuring 500mm diameter x 300mm length, and the KTS12-18 has a drum measuring 1200mm diameter x 1800mm in length.
All filters are automatically cleaned using an integrated, computer controlled cleaning/backwashing program, which also reduces maintenance to a minimum. Due to the optimized construction and water flow distribution, the filter operate with a low head loss which helps to reduce pumping energy.
The mesh on the KTS 5-3 and KTS 6-6 is a complete mesh, so if one part is damaged, then you need to replace the whole screen. It is possible to repair small holes or damage with silicon sealer. For the larger drum filters KTS8 to KTS12, the mesh is held on frames, so it is easy to change a small section. Indeed you can re-use the frames so this makes it very economic. So far the equipment has been running continuously at full flow rates for over 3 years, and the original mesh is still on the equipment. For drum filters this is quite remarkable and demonstrates that the equipment is well engineered and manufactured.
Different mesh sizes may be used with our drum filter, but the design is such that the mesh is not the primary limiting factor dictating water flow, so increasing mesh size will not significantly increase water flow. The only time you may want to increase mesh size is if you simply do not want to filter the water down to 30 microns, of if there is a very high level of suspended solids exceeding 30 mg/l and you want to maintain a high water flow.
