Two cartridge filter sizes are available, both units accept 40 inch
filter elements, DACF7 takes 7 fiter elements, and DAFC21 takes 21 filter elements.
Both units are manufactured in 304 grade stainless steel and are rated up to 10 bar. The
maximum water flowrate for theDAFC7 unit is 500 litres per minute, and 1200 litres per
minute for the DAFC21 unit. However it is always best to over-size the filter units
by a factor of 2, especially with filter elements of less that 10 microns.
Our cartridge filters are normally used with 1 micron filter elements to
prove a complete barrier to oocysts of the parasite cryptosporidia and giardia. Our
AFM filtration systems will remove the vast majority of these organisms, and will perform
a great deal better than sand filters. However there is still always the possibility that
some oocysts can work their way through the filter. By using a cartridge filter on
mains water supplies, and after AFM filration on natural water, you wll have a very
high degree of security at about 1/10 of the cost of a membrane system. Indeed
Dryden Aqua AFM and cartridge filters are used to protect membrane systems for RO and
desalination.
