Sizing the system

The flowrate for the unit is stated as 500 litres per minute.  This flowrate can be used with all micron ratings,  however the smaller micron rating the quicker the unit will block in comparison to a unit with filter elements with a   larger micron rating.

It is also best to over size the units, for example if you take a situation where there is one filter element in a filter unit, and this last for 1 week.  You would expect that two filter units operating on the same flow of water will last two weeks.  This is not the case,  in practice it will  normally last three to four weeks.   It is therefore best to make sure the unit is oversized by a factor of at least two.   When treating mains water supply,  in a typical water, a micron filter element set will normally last 3 to 6 months
