PSA Oxygen Generators

PSA oxygen generators are Pressure Swing Absorption units, the equipment comprises of an air compressor delivering air at approximately 7 bar pressure.  The air must be free from oil and dust contamination,  it must have a low humidity and temperature below 40 degrees centigrade.

The pressurised clean air enters one of the PSA columns, the column contains a synthetic zeolite that acts as a molecular sieve.  In effect the sieve separates the oxygen from the nitrogen. After a few seconds or minutes, a solenoid valve activates and the pressurised cylinder evacuates, and the second cylinder of zeolites is pressurised. The process keeps repeating,  hence the name Pressure Swing.

The out-put pressure from PSA units is approximately 3 bar or 45 psi,   this pressure is sufficient to drive the Dryden Aqua ceramic oxygen diffusers (diffusers require 30 to 50 psi pressure).
