Shellfish holding & depuration units
Dryden manufacture the equipment and systems used for the holding of shellfish, crabs and lobsters. System are also available for the depuration of mussels.
We have many systems through-out the UK and Europe using Dryden equipment of systems. The photograph below is one of our complete holdings systems for holding up to 1 tonne of stock.
The modular tray system for lobster, crabs and shellfish comprises of the stacked tanks constructed from stainless steel. Several levels of water treatment will be available, however for a 100% closed system in which you do not have to change the water in the system, the process will comprise of a mechanical filter, biofiltration, aeration, pH control, UVc disinfection, ozonation, protein skimming and monitoring. The equipment is supplied skid mounted as a package ready for assembly onsite.
Holding systems for Lobsters Crabs & Shellfish
The holding system outlined below comprises of 316 grade stainless steel tanks coupled with a water treatment system and optional temperature control for heating and or cooling The facility is a stand alone unit which can be used for temporary to long term storage of lobsters, crabs and bivalves. The water treatment system permits the unit to be installed in any remote location and to operate with artificial sea-water.
The system is totally modular with each of the holding tanks comprising of their own frame with feet, such that they simply bolt together to form a stack three tanks high. The lower tank is a sump tank for the water treatment system. This tank also acts as a water reservoir which allows the holding tanks to drain down without losing any water.
The size of the holding tanks is metres by 1.5 metres giving a surface are of 4.5 square meters. The sides of the tanks are 300mm deep and are intended to hold water to a depth of 200mm. Seawater volume is 4cubm, larger tanks and different shaped tanks are available on request.

Filtration system
The above drawing is a standard all purpose system designed for the medium to long term support of stock. The system recycles the water in the tanks every 15 minutes, and treats the water with biofiltration, UVc disinfection and pressure sand filtration. Ozonation is available as an optional extra for ultra high quality water. Dryden manufacture titanium sea-water coolers/heat pumps, a 2hp cooler is required if you wish to cool or heat the system. #
