Increased performance
Coagulation is the process of precipitating dissolved substances in water to form fine particles in suspension. The reaction takes place in a few seconds. This phase must take place in a “turbulent” environment.
Flocculation is the process of bringing together fine “coagulated” particles to form larger particles (also called “flocs”). The reaction takes several minutes. The environment should be as “gentle” as possible.
One of the components of APF® is NoPhos, an environmentally friendly coagulant that removes dissolved phosphates from the water. Phosphate is a fertilizer and a food source for algae and bacteria. If it is completely removed, they will be unable to grow
APF® is slowly injected using a constant flow peristaltic pump into a ZPM static mixer that provides the perfect turbulent environment for coagulation reactions. Alternatively, if the use of a ZPM isn’t possible, APF® can be injected into or right before the filtration pump. APF is available in 20l canisters.
DOSAGE:
Inject before the AFM® filter 0.5 to 1 ml of APF® / m of water circulated through the filter.
EXAMPLE:
Filtration flowrate: 20 m3/h APF dosage: 10 to 20 ml/h
AMPLIFIES COAGULATION REACTIONS:
Installed between the pump and the filter, the ZPM® creates strong water cavitation to provide the perfect mixing and turbulent environment necessary for coagulation.
INITIATES THE FLOCCULATION PROCESS:
ZPM neutralizes the electrical charge (Zeta potential) of particles to initiate flocculation by mechanically forming larger particles that can be retained by your filter for better filtration quality.
For an efficient coagulation & flocculation, use a constant flow peristaltic pump. Make sure to maintain a neutral pH and an alkalinity (TAC) > 80 mg/l.
