AFM activated filer media provides the citizens of Chennai, Pune and Bangalore with over 100 million litres of water per day, and this is set to double every year.
Ground water and most surface water sources in India are grossly contaminated with plastic, sewage, industrial waste water, arsenic and fluoride. RO membranes have now been banned below 500mg/l TDS because they waste too much water. However, RO membranes can not treat most of the water because it is too grossly contaminated. Sand filter probably provide 98% of all drinking water but they are all subject to serious wormhole channelling, which allows plastic and contaminated water to enter the network.
AFM can treat the water using pressure filters and RGF sand filters for rural and peri-urban water treatment.
